Fired by Christian Dior for hurling anti-Semitic abuse at people in Paris.

ON the first day of Paris fashion week and only three days before his Dior fashion show was due to run, designer John Galliano was dismissed by Christian Dior, after a video was released showing him slurring racist and anti Semitic abuse at a couple in a bar.

"I very firmly condemn what was said by John Galliano," said Dior's chief executive Sidney Toledano.

The video was recorded via mobile phone by the couple to whom he was addressing. It clearly shows him stating that:”No, but I love Hitler, and people like you would be dead today. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be gassed and dead." Yet the two women he was referring to were Italian, not Jewish.

Natalie Portman, who is the face of Dior's "Cherie" perfume, stated at the Academy Awards that she was "disgusted" with Galliano's remarks. Adding:"In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way."
