Fashion takes to recycling

BBC.co.uk
FASHION has now taken a new angle by using recycling, with a fashion show in Douglas asking people to participate by making outfits from recycled materials.

The strand shopping centre in Douglas is where the "wearable art" show was held. People who have a passion for fashion and art were asked to enter a wearable outfit from recycled products.

The show was opened to anyone who was interested in creating an "artistically designed outfit" for the catwalk. Students from the Isle of man college were invited to create designs that would add colour to the event, and the proceeds of the show were donated to local charity: The Children’s Centre.

One of the show organisers, Doreen Dixon said: "Any material can be used, fabric, stained glass, wood, paper, metal, rubber, plastic, and all kinds of recycled goods. It only needs to be strong enough to survive the catwalk and striking enough to enhance the show".
